From Melbourne Airport to melbourne city

Melbourne has two major airports: Tullamarine (MEL) and Avalon (AVV).  Tullamarine (MEL) is closer to WBC2022 and recommended for arrivals and departures.  Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport (MEL) is about 45 minutes from the Melbourne central business district. There are a number of transport methods.

Skybus is a low cost bus transfer that operates regularly.

  • Purchase a SkyBus ticket at the airport or online here.

  • Board the SkyBus City Express service from Melbourne Tullamarine Airport to Southern Cross Station.

  • On arrival at Southern Cross Station, SkyBus Link will safely transport you between Southern Cross Station and your destination in Melbourne's city centre – at no additional charge. The service operates 7 days a week from 06:30 to 20:00.  SkyBus Link buses depart at 30-minute intervals.

Getting Around Melbourne

WBC2022's accommodation partner, Scape Living, is within easy walking distance of the Congress venue, but there are lots of other ways to get around Melbourne.

By Public Transport

If you are travelling entirely within the CBD Free Tram Zone, you can hop on and hop off any tram for free; you don’t need a ticket.

If any part of your trip is outside the free tram zone, you must have a valid Myki (public transport ticket) to travel.  Public transport inspectors may issue on-the-spot fines to any passenger outside of the free tram zone without a valid Myki.

The RMIT tram stop is outside of the free tram zone.

More information about Public Transport Victoria’s services (including trams, trains and buses) can be found here.

By Car

Parking is extremely limited in the Melbourne CBD and it is not recommended.

At the RMIT City Campus, parking is available at Building 91, 110 Victoria Street, Carlton (entry via Cardigan Street).  This facility is independently managed by GreenCo.  Casual rates are available including early bird and night parking options.  GreenCo can be contacted via 1300 734 959.

By Other Means

There are a variety of carshare services such as Uber, Ola, Didi. Taxi companies include 13CABS and Silvertop. Melbourne has extensive bicycle infrastructure for cyclists; helmets are required by law.
